April 24, 2017
(New York) – Children’s Health Fund, the nation’s premier nonprofit healthcare organization for disadvantaged children, announced two new members of its board of directors this week.
World-renowned artist Chuck Close and biotech entrepreneur Dipal Doshi join the board as Children’s Health Fund enters its 30th year of service.
“We are pleased to welcome Chuck and Dipal into the Children’s Health Fund family,” said Co-Founder and President Dr. Irwin Redlener. “Both add crucial and diverse perspectives to our board of directors which will help guide the strategic direction of our organization. Considerable challenges remain for poor children in America, especially regarding access to quality health care. In uncertain times like today, the mission of Children’s Health Fund is as important as ever. We are fortunate to have leadership on our board that reflects a commitment to meeting the needs of children well into the future.”
Chuck Close is a renowned painter and photographer who rose to fame by establishing the photorealist technique. His massive- scale portraits are highly sought after by museums and art collectors around the world. In 2000, he was awarded the National Medal of Arts Award from President Bill Clinton. He is also the recipient of the New York State Governor’s Art Award and over 20 honorary degrees. Mr. Close brings a breadth of prominent contacts and visionary leadership to Children’s Health Fund’s board.
“I am proud to join Children’s Health Fund’s board in such a significant time of need. CHF has been a national leader in ensuring high quality healthcare to America’s most disadvantaged children. Its work has a significant impact since access to healthcare can be a determining factor in a child’s development. I am honored to add my perspective and expertise to help the organization advance its cause,” said Chuck Close.
Dipal Doshi is Chief Business Officer at Amicus Therapeutics, a publicly traded biotechnology company that specializes in innovative treatments for rare orphan diseases. Throughout his career, he has served in a variety of high-profile capacities in the finance, biotechnology and healthcare sectors including stints at Eli Lilly and Company, Merrill Lynch Investment Banking Group, Catalent Pharma Solutions and Auven Therapeutics Management. He holds an M.B.A. from The Wharton School and a B.A. from Rutgers University. Mr. Doshi brings significant strategic and operational expertise and unrivaled experience at high levels of the healthcare sector to Children’s Health Fund’s board.
“Children’s Health Fund’s commitment to its mission and innovative spirit motivated me to join the board. One of the main factors behind CHF’s 30 years of success has been its ability to stick to its core mission while embracing constantly changing needs and technologies. Today, CHF’s use of cutting-edge technology in the mobile medical units allows it to deliver care to more kids in harder to reach places than ever before. I am thrilled to help shape the future of this organization and ensure it remains at the forefront of healthcare innovation as it has for the last three decades,” said Dipal Doshi.
“It is a pleasure to watch our board continue to grow and develop. Both Chuck and Dipal are leaders in their respective fields whose addition to our board will enhance our strength and vision for the future,” commented Hervé Sedky, Chairman of the Board of Children’s Health Fund.
“Chuck Close and Dipal Doshi’s careers are testament to linking conviction with action,” said Dennis Walto, Executive Director of Children’s Health Fund, “…this formula is one that works at Children’s Health Fund and we are fortunate to have these two leaders join our cause.”
